Ermington Bay Flora and Fauna Assessment

The assessment included desktop and on-ground analysis of environmental issues and consultation with various stakeholders to determine the most appropriate route for the cycleway. The final route was chosen to minimise impacts to both saltmarsh and mangroves, whilst allowing for bike path construction standards to be met.

Recommendations were made to avoid, limit and mitigate environmental impacts associated with the planned cycleway and to maximise the success of restoration works. These included recommendations for “saltmarsh friendly” boardwalk construction materials and techniques. Suggestions for best practice restoration were also provided along with a list of plant species appropriate for revegetation.
