Bridging People and Place - Expanding Eco Logical Australia’s expertise into Anthropology
Monday, 20 January, 2025
Complementing our established archaeological, cultural heritage, social surroundings and First Nations engagement services, Scott brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to ELA’s growing capabilities. As Senior Principal, based in our Perth office, he will lead our anthropology and cultural heritage services across Western Australia and South Australia. Being born and bred in Adelaide but having made Perth his home for the last three and half years, Scott is perfectly placed to drive this service line and make a difference across both States.
A passionate advocate for understanding the deep connections between people and the environment, Scott has a PhD from McGill University and over 25 years of cross-disciplinary experience in diverse Indigenous settings across Australia, Fiji, and Arctic Canada. His career spans the museum, corporate, mining, research, and academic sectors, giving him a unique perspective on integrating cultural heritage into environmental and planning practices.
“With considerable national attention on preserving and caring for places imbued with human memories and stories, I see incredible value for mining companies, governments, and design and planning businesses to draw on our strategic services in this area.”
Working with our ecology, planning and approvals, spatial sciences, bushfire management, and heritage teams, Scott and his team will provide a holistic service for our clients, benefiting communities and the environment.
“I’m honoured to lead a new business arm at Eco Logical Australia that integrates tangible and intangible cultural heritage into ecological and planning processes. Our team will lead initiatives that respect and preserve cultural heritage while providing innovative solutions for our clients.”
This marks an exciting milestone for Eco Logical Australia as we broaden our scope to address the growing need for comprehensive cultural heritage strategies in Western Australia and South Australia. By embedding anthropological insights into our projects, we aim to deliver innovative, community-focused outcomes that benefit both people and the environment.
Our anthropology and cultural heritage services will include:
- Cultural heritage assessments
- Anthropological research
- Community engagement and knowledge gathering
- Training and capacity building to enhance organisational understanding of cultural heritage preservation
- Policy development and strategic advisory services.
